Understanding your rights as a member (pages 9, 10, 11 of Legal Code) of Associated Students at UCSB is important considering the extraordinary diversity of our campus community. In Associated Students, the plurality of cultures decides for us that we have to be especially conscious of how members are treated. We have a duty to our peers, both known and unknown, to guarantee that their treatment is equal under our rules and that standards are implemented fairly. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, when students are unaware about the rights of members, these rights are easily violated. Once the dam is broken, it is difficult to get back to normalcy.
The Office of the Attorney General respectfully requests that you fill out the survey included below. Please read up on your rights, condensed to a two-page excerpt for your convenience. This survey is interested in how membership rights are understood at ASUCSB, and will help us identify key issues with the current infrastructure of the Association. Moreover, responses will be invited to participate in a review of how membership rights are upheld and protected when actions are taken that may violate or infringe upon those rights.
